Fuel Cells Works, Siemens Gamesa Wind Turbine for Green Hydrogen Plant Arrives in Chile

The wind turbine that will be installed in the demonstration plant of the company HIF, which hopes to be a relevant player in the coming years in the production of green hydrogen in our region, is already in our region.

The structure from Shanghai, China, arrived yesterday at the Mardones port terminal aboard the BBC Africa ship and will be transferred by land to a site at kilometer 40 of Route 9 North.

The Siemens Gamesa wind turbine has a capacity of 3.4 MW and will be located next to the plant to provide energy for the electrolysis process, which separates hydrogen from water. The wind turbine will be composed of its respective tower, nacelle, rotor and blades.

Clara Bowman, the general manager of HIF Global said:

“Little by little our project is taking shape and this turbine is a fundamental part of it. “

“In parallel, in various parts of the world, such as China, Germany and the United States, the equipment that will allow us to produce carbon neutral eFuel is already being manufactured. We are working to start the operation during the second semester”.

The landing maneuver began yesterday in tandem, that is, with two synchronized cranes of 250 tons each, belonging to BBC Africa.

The operation will last for about 48 hours and required the work of 12 stevedores from the port, who were joined by another 12 crew members from the ship, transport personnel, Hif and Siemens Gamesa.

Rodrigo Pommiez, The general manager of Empresa Portuaria Austral stated that: “As a company we are fully aware that this operation marks a milestone in terms of economic projections for the region and we want to make our facilities available now, in particular the Mardones dock, for all those tasks associated with the installation of the future Haru Oni plant, since it constitutes a safe and appropriate place for the challenge that the project proposes to us.”
