- The two companies will work together to promote green hydrogen in Spain
Enagás, through its subsidiary Enagás Renovable, and the Aragonese Renewable Energy Company (CEAR), have signed a collaboration agreement for the joint development of a green hydrogen plant in Aragon.
The project contemplates the development of up to 103 Megawatts of electricity (MWe), from the hybridization of solar and wind energy, and 30 Megawatts (MW) of electrolysis for the production of green hydrogen.
This project fits perfectly with the two companies’ commitment to developing new energy solutions that help advance the decarbonisation objectives of the European Union and towards a more sustainable energy model. In addition, it highlights the synergies between the different sources of renewable energy and the production of green hydrogen with the aim of advancing the energy transition.
Enagás is promoting 55 specific renewable gas projects throughout Spain (34 green hydrogen projects and 21 biomethane projects), together with more than 60 Partners, and is working on three main lines of action: the development of renewable gases and their integration into existing gas infrastructures, the promotion of new uses of gas in sectors such as transport, especially maritime, and energy efficiency as a way to optimize resources and reduce emissions.
For CEAR this project means taking a further step in the materialization of its strategy for implementing innovative projects, which not only allow the integration of different sources of renewable generation, but also decisively contribute to the development of green hydrogen as a first-rate energy vector for the decarbonization of certain industrial sectors.
