Strasbourg has taken a significant step towards sustainable transportation with the inauguration of its first hydrogen fueling station, strategically positioned in the Plaine des Bouchers business park. This development was spearheaded by Réseau GDS – Gaz de Strasbourg, under the R-Hynoca brand, marking a pivotal moment in the region’s clean energy initiatives.
The station’s launch was celebrated by Project Officer, Lionel Boillot, and signifies the establishment of a forthcoming multi-energy hub in the area. This initiative is supported by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, receiving crucial funding from the H2ME project, an endeavor aimed at advancing hydrogen infrastructure across Europe.
Demonstrating the station’s operational capabilities, four hydrogen-powered vehicles from the European Parliament’s fleet, located nearby, utilized the facility for refueling on December 12. The station boasts the capacity to dispense up to one tonne of hydrogen per day, accommodating the growing demand for clean energy solutions.
The initiative reflects a collaborative effort, highlighted by the engagement of McPhy and members of the European Parliament during the inauguration, underscoring the broad support for hydrogen as a cornerstone of Europe’s clean energy transition.
