Fuel Cells Works, We only have one Earth

“Small actions can spark big changes” starting from this sentence, we can look at the horizon and share the conviction that any effort that is made in pursuit of the protection of the environment will be beneficial and will sum to other efforts of the same direction.

Nowadays, the human influence on the environment is more obvious than at any other time in history, great advances have been made in all fields, including technology, medicine, agriculture, and communication, but we have not yet achieved sustainable development, friendly to the environment.

In 1974 under the motto “We only have one Earth” World Environment Day was celebrated for the first time in history. From June 5 to 16, the first meeting took place in Stockholm, there June 5 was proclaimed as “World Environment Day” and the UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) was created. But beyond a day of commemoration, this is the opportunity for organizations and governments to reaffirm their commitment to the environment, taking valuable actions that generate environmental awareness.

Fifty years after the beginning of the environmental movement, much has been achieved, from the creation of the United Nations program to the implementation of environment ministries and global agreements, the visible results include the protection of the ozone layer, the progressive reduction of the use of leaded gasoline, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the protection of endangered species.

Environmental care has become a banner of today, widely disseminated and known, and has been developed, albeit vaguely, a collective consciousness, which is aware of the little time we have to face the environmental problems we have caused in the pursuit of progress.

Among the different fronts on which work is being done to preserve the environment, the following can be highlighted: climate change, ecosystem management, control of chemical products and waste, minimizing the causes and consequences of disasters and conflicts, environmental governance, and efficiency in the use of resources, each one of them, cover different issues, some of a local nature, others of global importance, but all of them reflect the concern for the rapid environmental deterioration that we face.

This year the Stockholm 50+ an international meeting is being held. Which aims to turn that awareness into real actions, which leads us to appropriate the motto with which everything began, “We only have one Earth”.
