SANTA BARBARA, Calif. H2 Clipper, Inc., an aerospace and alternative energy company developing uniquely capable hydrogen-powered airships and end-to-end hydrogen infrastructure solutions, announces that it has completed a simulated wind tunnel test using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) of its hydrogen-powered “Pipeline-In-The-Sky™” airship. The analysis (as shown in the attached images) confirms that the airship’s aerodynamic design achieves an extremely low level of residual drag and is another step in validating the airship’s operating performance and the company’s cost modeling.

BOSTON, MA, UNITED STATES — Hydrogen economy is a future economic structure of energy using hydrogen as a medium, which was put forward in the 1970s. Hydrogen is a clean energy source that burns to produce water without producing any pollutants. In the process, renewable energy such as solar, wind, and water is converted into electric energy.

  • The project demonstrates retrofitting of Mitsubishi Power’s fleet of advanced-class gas turbines to operate on a hydrogen fuel blend.
  • Georgia Power has already reduced carbon emissions by more than 60%, this new project showcases potential for further reductions using existing infrastructure.
  • Dry low NOx hydrogen blending on the M501G gas turbine was executed at the designed 100% natural gas firing temperature, within emissions compliance and without impact to maintenance intervals.
  • Tests included blending 20% hydrogen — an industry first for an advanced-class gas turbine — resulting in an approximately 7% reduction in CO2 emissions.

In addition to testing Hyzon’s Class 8 fuel cell shown here at the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo, Southern California-based Total Transportation Services Inc. has also been testing Toyota/Paccar fuel cells in two Kenworth T680s. They’ve also tested fuel cell trucks from Transpower, US Hybrid and an earlier fuel cell truck from Kenworth. In December, TTSI announced the addition of an all-electric Nikola Tre to their zero emission line-up.
