Today was the first of two media days for CES where the Consumer Technology Association which is responsible for putting on CES events talks about the state of the global professional sphere, the state of technology, and gives exhibitors the ability to engage with the press in an intimate setting. INDIANAPOLIS — Calumet Specialty Products Partners, L.P. (NASDAQ: CLMT, “Calumet”) announced today that Montana Renewables LLC (“MRL”) has closed the previously announced $50 million of project financing from Stonebriar Commercial Finance LLC (“Stonebriar”) related to construction of the renewable hydrogen plant for Calumet’s renewable diesel business in Great Falls, Montana.  Once complete, the renewable hydrogen plant will allow increased production of renewable diesel and further reduce the carbon intensity of products from MRL. The renewable hydrogen plant has an expected operational startup in the fourth quarter of 2022.

A team at the University of Pennsylvania is proposing the use of a liquid-organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC)—specifically, 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline (THQ)—for use as an endothermic fuel for thermal protection of hypersonic aircraft engines. A paper on their work is published in the journal Fuel.
