Hyzon Motors, NASDAQ listed and the world’s largest supplier of hydrogen-powered electric vehicles has inked an agreement with Woodside Petroleum (WPL).

The two collaborating on developing supply of zero carbon intensity hydrogen, with an aim to build demand from medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicle customers in both the US and Australia.

Hyzon Motors (NASDAQ:HYZN) CEO Craig Knight says hydrogen hubs will be developed to serve existing and potential demand for the company’s long-range trucks, which he says makes sense in Australia where haulage trucks can cover vast distances. This he says is where hydrogen has the advantage over lithium battery based EV’s given its generates the energy onboard which he says is more efficient and lends itself to heavy transport over long distances.

While Hyzon’s partnership with Woodside to source and develop hydrogen technology is focused on the US and Australian markets, Craig says he’s currently in Europe, which he sees as a vast untapped market.
