AFC Energy (AIM: AFC), a leading provider of hydrogen power generation technologies, is pleased to announce the commencement of the Dunsfold to Dundee Dash, a 500 mile hydrogen-fueled EV charger roadshow across the UK, starting at AFC Energy’s Dunsfold head office in Surrey and finishing in Dundee, Scotland.

The roadshow will highlight the benefits and capability of AFC Energy’s latest off-grid, zero-emission H-Power EV Charger, launched in December last year.

The event will cross the UK from south to north, stopping at various stakeholder and partner functions along the way where interested parties, including local governments, industrials, national parks, heritage trusts, and property developers will have the opportunity to witness the operation of our off-grid EV charger unit and explore the potential for deployment in local applications.

First stop on the Roadshow will be on the 4th February at Rotherham’s Advanced Manufacturing Park (“AMP”), where AFC Energy will be hosted by leading land and property regeneration company, Harworth plc.  The AMP is one of Harworth Group’s flagship developments and home to some of the global manufacturers including Rolls-Royce and Boeing.  Technology developed at the AMP is currently utilised in a diverse range of projects and applications which could well make use of AFC Energy’s hydrogen-based solutions.

The Roadshow will conclude on the 20th of February at Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc (“MSIP”) where AFC Energy has been invited to participate in MSIP’s “Innovation in Scotland’s Energy Storage Industry” event (https://www.msipdundee.com/events/innovation-in-scotlands-energy-storage-industry/) at the 32-hectare world-class centre for innovation.

In the interim, the Company will meet and demonstrate the system to schools, partners, and other commercial interest to witness the charger in operation, with a view to better understand how hydrogen and fuel cells can be used as an important element of the UK’s decarbonisation strategy.

The car for the event – a Tesla Model S 75D – will drive the 500-mile journey from Dunsfold to Dundee with charges to the 72.5kWh battery coming from the AFC Energy hydrogen-fueled EV charger unit, without emission of any greenhouse gases, further demonstrating how range anxiety in Electric Vehicles can be overcome without the expected material investment in the national grid or local distribution networks.

Adam Bond, Chief Executive Officer at AFC Energy, said “This is a proud moment for the AFC Energy team.  Following the successful launch of our EV charger unit in December last year, and the vast array of enquiries we are now in discussions to advance, the national Roadshow was always the next layer of proof in demonstrating the possibilities of our zero-emission EV charger system.  The ambitious deployment of EV charging in the UK and across Europe is already beginning to bite with real-life case studies already highlighting the risk our grid poses to the deployment of a fleet of decarbonised private and light commercial EVs.  Technologies such as AFC Energy’s hydrogen-fuelled EV charger are good for investors, the environment and for UK in securing our energy future”.
