Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and health, has announced its active involvement in the HYGUANE project, a collaborative effort supported by the European Space Agency – ESA, Centre National d’Études Spatiales, and ADEME in French Guiana.

This innovative project aims to decarbonize the industrial activities at the Guiana Space Center (CSG), as well as enhance sustainable mobility across French Guiana, leveraging renewable and low-carbon hydrogen.

At the heart of the HYGUANE project is the establishment of a 1.25 MW electrolyzer, which will be powered by renewable energy sourced from a photovoltaic field located on the CSG site. This Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzer, operated by Air Liquide, represents a significant stride towards realizing the energy transition in the region.

With over six decades of expertise spanning the entire hydrogen value chain, Air Liquide’s role in the HYGUANE project is pivotal. The company’s extensive experience and leadership in hydrogen technologies underscore its commitment to advancing energy transition solutions globally.
