  • Australia’s first hydrogen fuel cell prime-mover truck will be showcased at the Brisbane Truck Show on 18 May 2023.
  • The ‘Taurus’ truck is a co-development project led by Pure Hydrogen with input from global food & beverage conglomerate PepsiCo under the Term Sheet executed in September 2022.
  • Representatives from Pure Hydrogen will be present for sales discussions at the Brisbane Truck Show.

Sydney: Australian Clean Energy Company Pure Hydrogen Corporation Limited (ASX: PH2 or Pure Hydrogen’) is pleased to confirm that Australia’s first Hydrogen Fuel Cell Prime Mover, the ‘Taurus’ will be revealed at the Brisbane Truck Show on 18 May 2023.

Following the Brisbane Truck Show, the Taurus Prime Mover will be trialled with PepsiCo shortly afterwards, which aligns with the agreed development timeline set out by the parties in accordance with the initial Term Sheet (refer AS Announcement 30 September 2022. The Taurus is an Australian designed, a 220kW 6 x 4 Prime Mover with a hydrogen refuelling point and state-of-the-art features including a low-voltage power storage system and luxurious cabin interiors. Future designs will include Prime Movers that can handle B-Double loads of up to 70 tonnes.

The Brisbane Truck Show marks the next step in Pure Hydrogen’s go-to market commercialisation strategy, with a live demonstration of the use case for hydrogen powered commercial vehicles such as prime movers, garbage trucks and cement mixers to relevant industry participants.

Representatives from Pure Hydrogen will be present for sales discussions with potential customers at the event. The Truck Show demonstration will mark the commencement of the formal trial period for the Taurus Prime-Mover, as stipulated in the Term Sheet agreement. As agreed between the parties, in the event PepsiCo determines that the vehicle has a commercial use-case, it has the option to order additional hydrogen powered vehicles over the period 2023-25.

Pure Hydrogen has exclusive rights to the truck design in Australia, with the potential for multi-vehicle orders following completion of the trial period. Pure Hydrogen is also developing Australia’s first Hydrogen Powered Garbage Truck (see A5X announcement 21 March 22) to be trailed by JJ Waste and Recycling, which is on track to be delivered by the end of this quarter.

Pure Hydrogen’s broader hydrogen vehicle development strategy includes investments and partnerships with several companies domestically and internationally. It’s development include leading Australian waste management business JJ Waste & Recycling, which is scheduled to trial Australia’s first Hydrogen Fuel Cell Refuse Collection Vehicle (HFCRCV) later this year.

Pure Hydrogen also owns a 24% stake in hydrogen vehicle company H2X Global, which is currently undergoing final testing and approvals in the European market for the Warrego, a 4WD hydrogen fuel cell powered utility vehicle. H2X has also established a wholly-owned subsidiary in Sweden, which recently received a $2m payment in connection with a successful tender to supply hydrogen-powered vehicles to Renova, a major municipal waste company based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
