Fuel cells works, Bolivia Ministry of Hydrocarbons Promotes Plan to Generate Green Hydrogen

The Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy promotes a strategic plan for the generation of green hydrogen, in order to increase Bolivia’s energy potential and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This government project was addressed yesterday in the virtual workshop ‘Green Hydrogen Technologies for Decarbonization’, with the participation of authorities in the area and representatives of the IDB and the Ad Astra Rocket Company Group of Costa Rica, who presented progress in this regard.

The Minister of Hydrocarbons, Franklin Molina, said thate construction of an Alternative Energy Center is planned, where green hydrogen is part of the energy plan of the Bolivian State.

He added that the development of clean technologies is also promoted, through the generation of solar, wind, hydro, geothermal and biomass energy.

During the virtual workshop, the exhibitors they spoke of hydrogen as a renewable energy vector, hydrogen applications in transportation and industry, as well as hydrogen-based business models.

According to data from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energies, the Green hydrogen is generated by electrolysis to later be used in electric vehicles or fuel and whose use does not cause CO2 emissions.

The Deputy Minister of High Energy Technologies, Álvaro Arnez, stated that with this project the objective is to strengthen the energy matrix in Bolivia. “Just as at some point there was a scenario in which Bolivia did not have petrochemicals, there was training and today it is. On the subject of alternative energies, the same thing happens ”, emphasized Arnez who closed the virtual workshop.
