Beijing–30 hydrogen-powered shuttle buses successfully completed their mission on World Horticulture Expo 2019 on Wednesday.

Since their commissioning in early August, the buses have provided free shuttles to visitors around the Expo site. Since then, more than 2,000 trips have been made, with an average daily capacity of 200 passengers and a total distance of 5,500 kilometers.

In the future, the buses will be used in various sports competitions, for example at the Yanqing station of the Alpine Ski World Cup 2020 as well as various test matches and official competitions of the Olympic Winter Games 2022 in Beijing. In Beijing’s Yanqing district, special lines will be opened for these new types of buses.

The hydrogen fuel cell buses can run under low temperatures and last for a long time. The buses can also replenish their fuel energy in a short time with zero carbon emissions, according to Zhongguancun Science Park Yanqing Management Committee, which developed the hydrogen buses.
