China: Zhangjiagang, Tsinghua University to Build Hydrogen Energy Institute

Tsinghua University Zhangjiagang Joint Institute for Hydrogen Energy

Zhangjiagang has joined hands with Tsinghua University to build an institute for hydrogen energy and lithium-Ion battery technology development. 

Jiang Shehngyao, the deputy secretary of the party committee of Tsinghua University, thanked the support that the Zhangjiagang government provided during its construction. The research center will conduct demand-oriented research that focuses on satisfying customers’ needs and practical use in daily lives, as well as seeking technological innovation, promoting the upgrading of technologies in the service sector, and further facilitating local economic and social development.

Tang Yaping, the director of the institute, detailed its targets, background, research development and operating management system at the ceremony.

Huang Ji, the mayor of Zhangjiagang city delivered a keynote speech at the ceremony and said that the research and development of hydrogen energy and advanced lithium battery technology is of great significance and follows the strategic direction of Zhangjiagang’s development, and iterated the city needs the support of high-level innovative talents and technology to prosper.

The establishment of the Tsinghua University-Zhangjiagang Joint Institute for Hydrogen Energy and Lithium-Ion Battery Technology (JIHLT) will promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and further build high-tech research development.

Zhangjiagang’s government will roll out more policies to lure students from Tsinghua University to flock to the city for entrepreneurship opportunities.
