Fuel cells works, Citroën Unveils the 400-km Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powered Jumpy Van

With Ë-jumpy Hydrogen, Citroën Offers the Widest Electrified Range to Meet the Needs of Professionals

  • Combining batteries with a hydrogen fuel cell, Citroën ë-Jumpy Hydrogen allows greater range in electric mode without compromising the vehicle’s capabilities.
  • More than 400 km of autonomy and a hydrogen refueling in less than 3 minutes, Citroën ë-Jumpy Hydrogen foreshadows the electric utility of tomorrow.
  • 100% of the Citroën utility range will be electrified in 2021 with ë-Jumpy already on the road and My Ami Cargo, ë-Berlingo Van, ë-Jumpy Hydrogen and ë-Jumper which will arrive in the second half of the year.
  • Citroën thus demonstrates its ability to offer modern, technological and affordable solutions to meet the multiplicity of uses and mobility needs of customers. More than ever, Citroën is positioning itself as the answer for professionals.

“Ë-Jumpy Hydrogen completes our range of light commercial vehicles. Its architecture combining hydrogen fuel cell and the battery provides our van with the best of both technologiesThe integration of the various components has been ingeniously studied so that their size does not impact the vehicle’s loading capacity , an essential parameter for professionals in this segment. ë-Jumpy Hydrogen meets the needs and uses of professionals who will benefit from a range of over 400 km, a lower impact of the outside temperature on range, a charging time of only 3 minutes, ability to recover more energy during deceleration ”-Laurence Hansen – Citroën Product and Strategy Director

INNOVATION AT THE SERVICE OF PROFESSIONALS

Since 1928 Citroën has never ceased to innovate to adapt to changes in society and bring more serenity and ease to professionals in their daily lives. Faced with new environmental and societal challenges, Citroën is deploying new energies in 2021 with ë-Jumpy Hydrogen and new concepts with My Ami Cargo to present the most complete electric range on the market this year.

NEW ENERGIES: CITROËN JUMPY IN THE HOUR OF HYDROGEN

Hydrogen technology completes the offer of electric utility vehicles to meet the uses of 8% of companies who need to travel more than 300 km or do not have time to recharge their vehicle during the day. The Citroën offer will therefore meet all the needs of the segment.

ë-Jumpy Hydrogen, an electric van with fuel cell and rechargeable batteries, is the first Citroën model to introduce this new energy. While accommodating this new technology, it retains its useful volume and loading capacity. Practical, it offers a range of over 400 km * and its three 700 bar carbon fiber hydrogen tanks which find their place near the battery under the front seats, fill in just 3 minutes. With zero CO 2 emissions , artisans or traders will be able to continue to use the roads of regulated urban areas in complete freedom.

* Autonomy determined according to the methodology of the WLTP test procedure (R (EC) n ° 715/2007, R (EU) n ° 2017/1151)

ë-Jumpy Hydrogen is entirely electric and benefits from two energy sources: a 45 kW fuel cell which produces electricity by consuming hydrogen stored in a tank made up of 3 cylinders at 700 bars of pressure and a 10.5 kWh battery which acts as a 50 km reserve and automatically takes over when the hydrogen tank is empty. The hydrogen fuel cell ensures the autonomy of the vehicle and the battery is necessary during transient phases such as strong acceleration and gradients which require more power. These two energy sources combined are used to power the engine and drive the traction chain. The battery, which recovers energy during deceleration phases,

Jumpy, produced in our SevelNord plant, will be transformed at the Russelsheim Hydrogen Fuel Cell Research and Development Center in Germany, the Stellantis Group’s center of expertise in this area.

Available in two sizes M (4.95 m) and XL (5.30 m), the first deliveries of ë-Jumpy Hydrogen to fleet customers are scheduled for fall 2021.

True to its desire to draw inspiration from professionals and their daily uses, its range of battery-powered electric vans is supplemented by the hydrogen version of Citroën Jumpy. This new technology will be ideal for customers who drive longer distances regularly or need quick refueling. Citroën thus offers varied range of electrified commercial vehicles to professionals to enable them to ensure their activity in a long-term manner, in line with its growing demands but also with environmental issues and the increase in access restrictions to city centers. Anne-Lise Richard, Stellantis Electrified Vehicles Business Unit Manager
