Fuel Cells Works, Korea: Doosan Fuel Cell Participates in a Fuel Cell Pilot Project Project

Doosan Fuel Cell signed an MOU for joint development of the Ulsan Mipo Industrial Complex load response fuel cell pilot project with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Hyundai Motor Company, LS Electric, and SK Gas online.

The contract partners will build a load-response fuel cell power plant based on by-product hydrogen generated from the Ulsan Mipo Industrial Complex. In particular, this project is related to the Virtual Power Plant (VPP) platform, which operates small-scale renewable energy distributed power distributed in various places as if it were a single power plant using software techniques, such as System Marginal Price (SMP) and fuel cost. It is planned to apply a load response method that adjusts the amount of power generation according to the pilot application.

In this project, which is being carried out on a site of 833 pyeong in Michang Co., Ltd. located within the Ulsan Mipo Industrial Complex, Doosan Fuel Cell produces base power through a phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC) 3.08 MW and provides long-term maintenance services.

Doosan Fuel Cell CEO Yoo Soo-kyung said, “Based on our experience in successfully carrying out the fuel cell business using by-product hydrogen, we will play an important role in this load response fuel cell pilot project.” We will create various business opportunities using hydrogen fuel cells.”
