Herning, Denmark,– Following the announcement made on June 19, 2023, Everfuel is now providing an update regarding the status of their hydrogen trailer fleet.
Investigations into the leak have identified the root cause of the valve malfunction, traced back to a set of incorrectly tightened bolts which led to the bursting of an O-ring. The root cause indicates an assembly error on the valve supplier’s production line. This error went undetected by both the valve supplier’s quality control and the trailer supplier’s quality inspection.
In response to this, both suppliers will implement mitigating actions to prevent similar situations in the future. This includes updating procedures for continued verification of tightness throughout the trailers’ lifetimes.
To confirm that this fault is not systematic, Everfuel has initiated a campaign in collaboration with the trailer supplier and valve supplier. Upon successful completion of this campaign, the trailers will be sequentially refilled and redeployed to hydrogen stations in a prioritized order.
Everfuel anticipates providing an estimated plan for the restart of our hydrogen distribution and hydrogen stations by Monday, July 3rd.
