Faurecia and Groupe Renault announce their decision to collaborate in the field of hydrogen storage systems for light commercial vehicles running on hydrogen.

From the end of 2021, Faurecia will supply the Renault Group with hydrogen storage systems for a first fleet of light commercial vehicles. These systems will be developed and produced at its global center of expertise in Bavans, France. Depending on volumes, the increase in production will be extended to a new plant dedicated to hydrogen storage systems that Faurecia plans to build in Allenjoie, France.

Mathias Miedreich, Executive Vice President of Faurecia Clean Mobility said, This partnership is an important illustration of our common vision regarding the expansion of the use of hydrogen as a cornerstone of energy transition and zero emission mobility. Hydrogen technology for electric vehicles is set to take an important place in the engine mix by 2030 and, as such, Faurecia is devoting significant resources to accelerating its deployment.”

Gilles le Borgne the Engineering Director Groupe Renault said, “This collaboration on hydrogen tanks is part of our strategy to offer a hydrogen solution ready to be marketed in the light commercial vehicle market and to achieve a share of over 30% of this fast growing market in Europe. It supports the ambition that we share with our partner Plug Power to build a unique offer across the entire fuel cell and green hydrogen value chain, as well as new value-generating activities in France.”
