Vancouver, British Columbia– First Hydrogen Corp., is pleased to announce that award-winning fleet management provider Rivus, which operates approximately 120,000 vehicles, has issued a positive report on the company’s hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicle (FCEV). The report highlights the performance of First Hydrogen’s FCEV over EVs in terms of vehicle efficiency at various load conditions. The report goes on to say that the FCEV has unbeatable range and refueling was very quick, taking less than 5 minutes.

The report finds that First Hydrogen’s FCEV is superior in range to electric vehicles (EV). Modern electric light commercial vehicles (eLCVs) can achieve ranges of up to 150 miles, while First Hydrogen’s FCEV easily achieves twice that. The company’s FCEV was not significantly affected in its performance by either speed or payload and showed good results in different load cycles compared to eLCVs, where range can be reduced by around 10%.

First Hydrogen’s FCEV has been trialled in collaboration with Rivus for just over 4 weeks. During that time, Rivus engineers covered over 700 miles (1,125 km). The tests were conducted on different tracks and provided data on how the car performs in different conditions. These included inner-city journeys, extra-urban journeys, ie journeys in city centers and on higher-speed roads, and combined journeys, which included a mix of low-speed city-centre roads, higher-speed roads and motorways. Rivus tested the van both empty and loaded up to 90% of its maximum load capacity, which again reflects the way the vans are used in the field.

Gemma Horne, Warranty Controller at Rivus , took part in the testing and described the overall experience as “great”. She continued, “The key benefit of the First Hydrogen vehicle is that refueling times are faster than battery-powered vehicles. And of course, unlike combustion engines, hydrogen vehicles do not cause any emissions.”

First Hydrogen Automotive CEO Steve Gill says: “We are pleased that Rivus has been able to demonstrate that this technology can be a viable alternative for many fleets. The trial also showed that the vehicle achieved a range of more than 500 km on a single tank of fuel, exceeding initial expectations of the vehicle’s real-world performance. We have long believed that our vehicle will benefit fleets and this first trial proves it.”

About First Hydrogen Corp.

First Hydrogen Corp. is a Vancouver (Canada) and London (UK) based company specializing in zero emission vehicles, green hydrogen production and sales, and supercritical carbon dioxide extraction systems. Under two agreements with AVL Powertrain and Ballard Power Systems Inc., the company has designed and engineered hydrogen fuel cell demonstrator light commercial vehicles (“LCVs”) with a range of over 400 miles. These vehicles will initially be trialled at 16 fleet operators in the UK. At the same time, the company has entered the bespoke vehicle development phase, in which it will develop its own fleet of zero-emission vehicles. In addition, First Hydrogen is developing a hydrogen refueling system in cooperation with FEV Consulting GmbH, the automotive consultancy of the FEV Group in Aachen. The Company is also pursuing green hydrogen production and distribution opportunities in the UK, EU and North America.
