Fuel cells works, Germany: H2Global Starts and Nordex Becomes a Founding Member

Today, H2Global starts its operations. Nordex together with 15 key players from the German energy, mechanical engineering, logistics, and finance sector joined the H2Global Foundation as founding members.

The H2 Global Program is designed to promote the market run-up for renewable hydrogen. It is focusing on the regions with the best conditions to produce and export renewable hydrogen to supply the EU’s and Germany’s economy.

José Luis Blanco, the CEO of Nordex, comments: ‘We at Nordex have mastered to provide the best cost of energy with our wind turbines. Now, it is time to utilize this cost advantage also for producing renewable hydrogen. We will leverage on our Engineering know-how and deep understand of wind energy to supply renewable hydrogen cheap and reliable.’

H2Global is a funding concept to achieve the goals adopted in the National Hydrogen Strategy (NWS) in connection with the production of green hydrogen (H 2 ) and its import. The H2Global commission is committed to the development of a local hydrogen economy as a pillar of the local energy transition in partner countries with the development of the hydrogen export economy.

The market economy-oriented funding program was initially designed by the Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and is now being further developed as part of a specialist commission under the project sponsorship of the German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (DWV).

The H2Global expert commission is composed of representatives from the German industry, the financial sector, associations, and public institutions who jointly pursue the goal of shaping the H2Global concept until it is ready for implementation. The DWV has received a special grant from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) for the finalization of the H2Global concept. The elaboration, especially in the areas of organizational structure, processes, services, countries, products and financing, takes place in close coordination with GIZ and the BMWi as well as industry.
