Hydrogen: French and German Gas Network Operators Sign European Memorandum of Understanding

The French and German gas transmission system operators GRTgaz, ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH and GRTgaz Deutschland GmbH have signed a cooperation agreement on the sharing of knowledge and research work on hydrogen in the networks .

Paris — ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH, GRTgaz S.A. and GRTgaz Deutschland GmbH, German and French gas transmission system operators (TSO), announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance knowledge and research sharing in relation to the transportation and blending of hydrogen and natural gas in their networks.

This agreement, the most important one to date at the European scale, reinforces cross-border cooperation and is a clear signal of the intention of gas TSOs to contribute to the deployment of hydrogen and new decarbonized gas solutions.

“The German and French transmission system operators will share their experience and plan or carry out projects together in order to collect and share relevant information. Their shared objective is to make it possible to transport hydrogen in their networks, ”the press release said.
