Hygenco has recently formalized a partnership with Tata Steel Special Economic Zone (TSSEZL) through a Memorandum of Understanding to set up a green hydrogen and green ammonia facility at TSSEZL’s Gopalpur Industrial Park in Odisha. This strategic initiative aims to produce 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia in various phases, with the first phase scheduled for commissioning by December 2026.

Already recognized for commissioning India’s first green hydrogen project in Hisar earlier this year, Hygenco continues to pave the way in the sustainable energy sector. The company has announced plans to invest $2.5 billion over the next three years to expand its green hydrogen projects across India, signaling a robust commitment to green energy development.

Hygenco Partners With Tata Steel for Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Production in OdishaAmit Bansal, Founder and CEO of Hygenco, stated, “The produce from the green ammonia plant at TSSEZL’s Gopalpur Industrial Park, in the initial phase, will be exported.” He highlighted that advanced discussions with various off-takers are already underway, underscoring the strategic importance of this new venture.

The project, set to be one of the largest of its kind, is backed by approvals from the High-Level Clearance Authority of the esteemed Chief Minister’s Office of Odisha, received in February 2024. This endorsement not only reaffirms the project’s significance but also illustrates Hygenco’s commitment to enhancing the landscape of sustainable energy through pioneering initiatives.
