Fuel Cells Works, Intelligent Energy signs MOU with Singapore Company Powerzone H2 Technologies Pte Ltd to Explore Opportunities in the Southeast Asia region

Loughborough, UK –Intelligent Energy (IE) the UK fuel cell engineering company announces it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Powerzone H2 Technologies Pte Ltd, a manufacturer of power generator sets and provider of power-plant solutions based in Singapore.

As part of the MOU, Powerzone H2 will explore potential opportunities for hydrogen technologies in Southeast Asia, with particular focus on locations close to Powerzone H2’s facility in Singapore and their manufacturing facility in China.

David Fields, Head of Product Line, IE-Lift™ at IE, said: “Powerzone H2 is an excellent partner for us and will offer valuable support by identifying new market opportunities. In particular, Powerzone H2 will focus on applications for IE-Soar™ products for drones and IE-Lift™ products for portable and stationary power in industries such as construction, materials handling, seaports and airports. The two companies will also work together to explore the growing potential in the region for fuel cell products within the telecoms markets. We welcome the relationship and look forward to working together.”

Mr Lee Swee Ser at Powerzone H2 added: “As a manufacturer of power generator sets, seeing how we can help our existing and potential customers transition to clean power solutions is absolutely critical. Intelligent Energy’s fuel cell products are zero emission, so we look forward to seeing what opportunities there are in the Southeast Asia region to integrate these.”

Powerzone H2 plan to offer their customers a complete package solution that will include the build, service and maintenance of power products incorporating IE’s fuel cell products.

About Powerzone H2 Technologies Pte Ltd

Powerzone H2 Technologies Pte Ltd is a subsidiary of Powerzone Technologies Pte Ltd and it was set up on 8 January 2021. It is a Singapore-based company aiming to be a green energy solutions provider in the Region. Our mission is to provide low emission power energy products to address on global climate change. We believe that green technologies and innovation are the only sustainable way to move forward in creating a clean and green environment.

About fuel cells

Fuel cell technology is similar to battery technology in that individual cells are built up to give the desired power output. However, fuel cells do not run out of charge as batteries do and will produce power for as long as hydrogen fuel and air is provided to the cell. Hydrogen is readily available around the world, often generated using green energy.

Fuel cells are deployed in multiple applications where clean, lightweight, efficient and cost-effective power is required. Fast re-fuelling and lack of emissions makes fuel cell technology the immediate choice for forklift trucks and warehousing. Fuel cells are commonplace in clean construction and backup power for critical telecoms. Powering UAVs with fuel cells can allow three times the flying time versus incumbent battery technology, which gives significant advantages in applications such as aerial surveying and filming and delivery.

Zero emission hydrogen fuel cell technology will be preferred to battery technology in vehicles where rapid re-fuelling and long range are important. Typical fuel cell applications include passenger cars, buses and trucks, along with smaller cars where a high availability is critical, e.g. taxis and shared vehicles. FCEVs are expected to be an integral part of the connected and autonomous vehicle (“CAV”) revolution over the coming years. Fuel cells are expected to become a dominant technology in de-carbonised aerospace.
