Vancouver, Canada — Ionomr Innovations applauds the Canadian government’s creation of a Hydrogen Strategy for Canada to advance the country’s technology leadership and accelerate the move to a clean energy future.

Bill Haberlin, CEO of Ionomr Innovations Inc. said, “Canadian companies have been world-leaders in hydrogen technology for decades. Ionomr is the type of new company and breakthrough technology that can provide cost, performance and environmental advantages for fuel cells, hydrogen production, and carbon capture processes to truly help facilitate a speedy shift to the hydrogen economy. Ionomr’s polymer and membrane technology is already well underway in its scale-up and commercialization efforts, leveraging support by Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) and BC Innovative Clean Energy (ICE) Fund. The Government of Canada’s support for hydrogen companies like Ionomr is key to speeding up the sector’s development.”

Ionomr Co-founder & Chief Strategy Officer, Benjamin Britton, said, “Updating our energy systems to be zero emission is the key responsibility of our generation, to enable our planet to continue to be a viable, stable home. Knowing this inspired me to pursue the research that led to Ionomr’s breakthrough technology, and it’s what drives me to keep innovating every day. Membranes are critical to the efficiency and lifetime of clean technology. There has been no disruptive development in membrane technology since DuPont invented it in the 1960s, until now with the revolutionary breakthrough technology we have achieved at Ionomr Innovations.”

While hydrogen and fuel cell technologies have been expected to play a major role in the creation of a carbon-free energy future, cost and performance constraints have hindered their development. Ionomr is helping developers overcome these hurdles by providing membranes and polymers that increase performance and durability, while eliminating the need for expensive precious metals and fluorinated compounds with adverse environmental effects.
