Korea: Jeonbuk Province to Promote Hydrogen Fuel Cell Forklift Power

A project to replace electric forklift batteries with hydrogen fuel cell power packs was recently announced by the Jeonbuk Provincial Governor.

This project will initially start with 10 fuel cell forklifts and cost 66 million won per one power pack replacement.

Hydrogen fuel cell forklift produces no pollution and its charging time is shortened from 6 hours to 5 minutes compared to electric forklift. The operating costs are expected to decrease by 10% after 10 years of use.

Seong-ho Lee, Director of Renewable Energy, Jeonbuk, said, “Jeonbuk will lead the hydrogen economy industry in the construction machinery and transportation sectors by actively fostering the hydrogen construction machinery sector through the supply of hydrogen fuel cell forklift power packs. ”
