The Supervisory Board of NOW GmbH National Organization for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology has appointed Kurt-Christoph von Knobelsdorff as Managing Director and Spokesman for the Management Board effective May 15, 2020.

He succeeds Dr. Klaus Bonhoff, who has assumed the position of Head of Department for Policy Issues at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI – Bundesministerium für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur). The 52-year-old economist, Kurt-Christoph von Knobelsdorff, has held leading positions in the Berlin Senate and the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Economics following previous professional posts at the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK – Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag) and the Association of Family Entrepreneurs (Verband der Familienunternehmer). Most recently, he was Head of Department in the Ministry of Economics and Energy of the State of Brandenburg.

Since 2008, NOW GmbH has been driving the development of clean, sustainable technologies for transport and energy forward, and in this context also coordinates the funding programmes of the Federal Ministry of Transport. These include the National Innovation Programme Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology and the Electric Mobility and Charging Infrastructure funding guidelines.

Furthermore, NOW GmbH also supports the BMVI in the further development of the Mobility and Fuels Strategy as well as the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety within the scope of the Export Initiative for Climate Protection Technologies and German-Japanese cooperation in the field of hydrogen technology. At the turn of the year, the Federal Ministry of Transport commissioned NOW GmbH to establish the German Centre for Charging Infrastructure. And since the beginning of the year, NOW GmbH has also supported the Ministry in the further development of the National Competence Network for Sustainable Mobility (NaKoMo – Nationales Kompetenznetzwerk für nachhaltige Mobilität).

The networking activities undertaken by NOW GmbH at a programme, national and international level are a crucial basis for the National Hydrogen Strategy, in which NOW GmbH will play a key role and decisively contribute with its vast expertise.
