Kohaigen (CEO Lee Gyeong-sil) unveiled the world’s largest self-refueling hydrogen station for commercial vehicles in Changwon City. A completion ceremony was held on the 27th at a public bus garage in Seongju-dong, Changwon-si, with the participation of key figures from related organizations such as Vice Minister of Environment Yoo Je-cheol, Changwon City Mayor Hong Nam-pyo, and Gyeongsangnam-do Environment and Forestry Bureau Director Jeong Seok-won.

The Changwon Seongju Hydrogen Station, promoted as a private capital subsidy project for the installation of hydrogen fuel cell vehicle refueling stations by the Ministry of Environment, is the world’s largest large-capacity station, capable of refueling 300 kg of hydrogen per hour. It is 12 times larger than the 25 kg class stations typically found in urban areas.

Designed for refueling hydrogen commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks that consume large amounts of hydrogen, the station features three dispensers for simultaneously refueling three vehicles and can refuel 15 hydrogen buses per hour.

The station enables refueling of commercial vehicles that travel an average distance of 434 km per vehicle, with an average refueling time of 10 to 12 minutes per hydrogen bus. Moreover, the Changwon Seongju hydrogen filling station has received approval from the Ministry of Industry for special demonstration and applied a self-refueling system that allows hydrogen vehicle drivers to directly refuel hydrogen in one of the three dispensers.

The Kohaigen Changwon Seongju hydrogen filling station has achieved a 78% localization rate through meticulous design work from the initial stage. Collaborating closely with domestic manufacturers, the station introduced domestic equipment, unlike most hydrogen filling stations that use foreign equipment packages. Additionally, COHAIZEN has completed a patent application for a differentiated refueling station system configuration.

Kohigen CEO Lee Gyeong-sil said, “We will do our best to expand the role and scope of hydrogen to foster the world’s No. 1 hydrogen industry and realize carbon neutrality.” COHAIZEN currently operates the Jeonju Pyeonghwa Hydrogen Refueling Station and is constructing large-capacity hydrogen refueling stations for commercial vehicles in 17 regions across the country. By 2028, the company plans to complete gaseous or liquefied large-capacity hydrogen refueling stations in 30 regions nationwide.
