In a particularly promising dynamic for the development of hydrogen in France and in the world, MEDEF International and France Hydrogen formalized their partnership to promote French companies and the offer of the different segments of the hydrogen sector, mainly in emerging markets and in development.

Five years after the Paris agreement, many governments, motivated by the urgent need to decarbonize their industries, are betting on renewable and low-carbon hydrogen. The rise of this clean and sustainable energy vector calls for proactive policies to which the States responded in 2020: plans have been presented in favor of post-Covid recovery, particularly in Australia, Germany, Japan and the Netherlands.

Among these countries, France presented on September 8, 2020 its national strategy for the development of carbon-free hydrogen, whose ecological, technological and economic challenge is to create and structure a cutting-edge industrial ecosystem that is competitive with the international. To do this, the State plans to massively accelerate investments by committing, by 2030, more than 7 billion euros, including 2 billion euros from the recovery plan.

In this context, MEDEF International – 1 st private French business network abroad – France and Hydrogen – organization uniting all players in the value chain of hydrogen – have decided to join forces to conduct specific and concerted actions for the benefit of French companies in the international hydrogen sector.

This partnership was formalized by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Mr. Philippe BOUCLY, President of France Hydrogen, and Mr. Philippe GAUTIER, Managing Director of MEDEF International, during a meeting, in webinar format, on Thursday 21 January, on the sector’s opportunities around the world.

The merger of the two associations involves the implementation of joint actions aimed at promoting French know-how and identifying relevant players for the conquest of foreign markets.
