Fuel Cells Works, MITECO Opens the Call for Aid for Pioneering and Unique Renewable Hydrogen Projects, Endowed With 150 Million

The line will support projects with commercial viability for the local production and consumption of renewable hydrogen in sectors that are difficult to decarbonise, such as industry or heavy transport

It is one of the first four PERTE ERHA calls, which will mobilize an investment of more than 16,300 million euros

The participation of SMEs, the positive impact on islands, Just Transition and Demographic Challenge areas, the reduction of emissions, job creation and gender equality will be valued.

The Official State Gazette (BOE) published today the call for a line endowed with 150 million euros for pioneering renewable hydrogen projects, with commercial viability, for its production and local consumption in sectors that are difficult to decarbonise, such as industry or transport heavy. This is one of the two lines of aid for the promotion of renewable hydrogen approved by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) within the Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation of Renewable Energies, Renewable Hydrogen and Storage ( PERTE ERHA).

The characteristics of the call are available on the IDAE website and the application submission period will remain open from March 7 to May 6. The maximum aid per project is 15 million and the award criteria will consider the participation of SMEs, the positive impact on islands, areas of Just Transition and Demographic Challenge, the reduction of emissions, the creation of employment and gender equality. .

The Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE) will be in charge of managing these grants, which will be awarded on a competitive basis and will support projects that combine, in an integrated manner, the production, distribution and use of hydrogen in the same location . The selected projects must respect the principle of “not causing significant damage” to the environment and be executed before September 2025.
