Hyster Europe to develop hydrogen electric reachstacker for Port of Valencia

Starting next year (2021) a mobile hydrogen refueling station will begin operating at the Spanish Port of Valencia.

The two year trial period will be supplying hydrogen to a reach stacker which will be operating at MSC Terminal Valencia and a terminal tractor that will be tested at Grimaldi Group’s Valencia Terminal Europa, therefore the need for a mobile hydrogen refueling unit.

Centro Nacional del Hidrógeno (CNH2) developed the pilot program which, is part of the European H2PORTS project, led by Fundación Valenciaport.

The Port of Valencia said that the trial would ‘create the perfect environment for the testing of possible future uses of hydrogen fuel cells in the maritime port sector, which is intended to be exploited not only during the trial period but also after the completion of the project’.
