Fuel Cells Works, Motive Announces Partnership With Tevva to Jointly Supply Hydrogen Fuel and Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV)

Motive Fuels, the UK’s largest hydrogen refuelling operator, today announced a partnership with Tevva, the electric and hydrogen truck pioneer. The partnership will see Motive offer green hydrogen fuel as a package with Tevva’s trucks helping UK truck operators decarbonise the heavy transport sector. Motive and Tevva will work together to support Tevva customers with safe, convenient, affordable and sustainable hydrogen.

Motive will supply hydrogen through its existing station network across England, and UK-wide through mobile refuelling stations which can be deployed in days, as well as building new hydrogen stations. All of Motive’s hydrogen supply is green and produced in the UK, meaning there are very low emissions in the supply chain and virtually no reliance on energy imports.

Tevva intends to offer a range of hydrogen electric trucks with 7.5, 12 and 19 tonne variants which comfortably meet demanding duty cycles for nearly all urban and extra-urban use cases. Tevva’s innovation means that its customers can drive for longer distances, with heavier payloads and/or with more uptime and will have reassurance because of the technology’s reliability and safety.

Crucially, hydrogen refuelling typically takes a similar time to diesel truck refuelling (5-20 minutes) while hydrogen electric trucks allow dual-use of both battery electric and hydrogen energy sources, which future proof customers as they transition away from fossil fuels.

Dr. Harsh Pershad, Head of Hydrogen at Tevva explains: “We are delighted to partner with Motive Fuels as we continue to expand our dual energy approach to decarbonising the HGV industry. We want to make hydrogen fuel usage to be convenient, affordable and sustainable. To achieve this, we are helping remove some of the adoption risks associated with this transition as part of our hydrogen refuelling services. Motive Fuels is one of the most experienced UK hydrogen refuelling providers and a natural partner for Tevva in making this a reality and we look forward to working closely with the team.”

Dr. James Cross, Commercial Director at Motive Fuels, said: “We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Tevva to supply green hydrogen to HGV customers. The hydrogen transport industry is new and this combined offer will help customers access both vehicles and fuel. We are pleased to be working with Tevva to bring our whole range of services – from mobile refuelling to new station building – to allow us to decarbonise the UK heavy goods sector.”
