- Nedstack Australia awarded $825,000 by AMGC to prototype and develop Australia’s first utility scaled hydrogen PEM fuel cell with LAVO™
- Nedstack Australia is a joint venture between LAVO™ and Dutch PEM Fuel Cell manufacturer Nedstack
- The prototype will be developed at the $20M Springfield facility, expanding on the planned manufacturing of hydrogen fuel cells for LAVO’s 40kWh storage unit
- The $3.56M program will support research and development, the commercialisation of utility scale fuel cells for the growing domestic and international hydrogen market
Sydney, NSW — NedStack Australia welcomes the funding announcement made today by the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMGC) to further develop proton-exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell technology in Australia to support the expanding hydrogen industry.
Nedstack Australia Pty Ltd is a joint venture between LAVO Hydrogen Storage Technology Pty Ltd and Nedstack of Netherlands. The JV will utilise AMGC grant to locally develop utility scale PEM fuel cell products in Australia, leading to future large scall manufacturing.
Australia-based LAVO™ green hydrogen-powered devices are currently utilising Nedstack fuel cells from the Netherlands in their world-first hydrogen energy storage system. Expanding PEM fuel cell product development and manufacturing in Australia enhance the domestic capability to meet the growing demand for fuel cells in hydrogen-fed power supply units across the renewable energy, telecom, mining and transportation industries.
Local manufacture of hydrogen fuel cells will improve the hydrogen eco-system supply chain and provide a long-term sustainable solution to supply domestic industry and help Australian key industries meet their net-zero targets.
LAVO™ is changing the way people live with energy. A hydrogen technology and lifestyle company, LAVO™ designs and manufactures renewable hydrogen energy storage solutions for residential and commercial use. LAVO™ will challenge convention, spark a global conversation and enable a meaningful change in attitudes and behaviours around sustainability, the environment and responsible consumerism. Founded in 2020, LAVO™ Hydrogen Technology Limited was established to fast track the commercialisation of technology developed within the Hydrogen Energy Research Centre cofounded by Providence Asset Group and the University of New South Wales. LAVO™ is headquartered in Sydney Australia. For more information visit www.lavo.com.au.
