With a range suitable for traveling, short refueling stops, a high level of suitability for winter, and completely without any harmful emissions, the Toyota Mirai (combined hydrogen fuel consumption 0.76 kg / 100 km; combined CO 2 emissions 0 g / km) * has been demonstrating since 2015 how alternative drive concepts can be successful let sell in series.

From November 2020, the Japanese car manufacturer will start production of the second generation of the Toyota Mirai and at the same time increase production capacity to 30,000 units per year. The completely newly developed model impresses with significant advances in technology, efficiency, performance and design. An optimized fuel cell system and three hydrogen tanks with an overall larger volume enable a range that is up to 30 percent higher than the previous model (final homologation data are still pending). There is also now enough space for five instead of four people, which makes the new Mirai even more suitable for everyday use.

Compared to the first generation, the new Mirai is cheaper and starts at prices from 63,900 euros (all prices including 19 percent VAT). The Toyota Mirai is now also eligible for the environmental bonus and the innovation bonus.

Even in the basic configuration, it impresses with highlights such as 19-inch alloy wheels, a JBL sound system with 14 speakers, a multimedia system with navigation and a 12.3-inch display that also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a smart key system, LED -Headlights, heated seats in the front and electrically adjustable front seats. The current generation of the active safety and driver assistance system Toyota Safety Sense ensures safety.

The “Executive” equipment line (from 66,900 euros) also includes polished silver-colored 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive bi-LED headlights, multi-LED indicators at the front, privacy glass for the rear windows, a 360-degree camera system, an adjustable one Ambient lighting with eight different colors, steering wheel heating, leather-look seat covers, an electrically adjustable steering column and a charging station for wireless charging of the smartphone. A reversing assistant (RCTA-B) as well as a blind spot assistant (BSM) and a parking assistant (ICS) with four sensors complete the package.

In the top equipment “Advanced” (73,900 euros), the new Mirai has a parking assistant (IPA +), black 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic roof, head-up display, a digital interior mirror with a camera, rear-seat heating, front and rear seat ventilation, Three-zone automatic air conditioning and a memory function for the driver’s seat and the electrically adjustable steering column. In addition, the Mirai is equipped with semi-aniline leather seats in black, which are available on request, at no extra charge, in a light color with a coordinated dashboard and decorative applications in copper color.

The model is based on the new modular Toyota platform for rear-wheel-drive vehicles, which was designed for different drive types from the start. It gives the sedan greater body rigidity and a lower center of gravity, which increases agility and responsiveness. The new Mirai also responds more directly and evenly to movements of the accelerator pedal, which ensures greater comfort and driving pleasure in equal measure.
