NTT Japan and its system integration partner Jepico have successfully initiated the pilot phase of the GenCell Box, a hydrogen fuel cell-powered unit, at an NTT-AT test site in Tokushima, Japan. This activation was remotely executed following GenCell’s precise guidelines, paving the way for comprehensive remote dry testing. This preparatory phase aims to ensure that upon their arrival, the technicians can prioritize local support training, having already completed a thorough pre-visit examination.

This initiative stems from NTT-AT’s decision, a subsidiary of Japan’s leading telecom giant NTT, to explore backup solutions for its facilities. With GenCell providing remote setup assistance over the past few months, and Jepico’s involvement based on the positive outcomes from the NTT-AT project, an additional BOX unit has been procured for client demonstrations.

This technology enables GenCell’s headquarters to oversee the unit’s functionality in real-time.

The project garnered significant attention at the end of the week when NTT-AT’s top executives and board members visited the site to witness the operational system firsthand.

GenCell expresses deep pride in this venture’s advancements within Japan, acknowledging the nation’s dedicated efforts towards establishing a hydrogen-based, emission-free economy. This aligns with GenCell’s vision of a #GreenFSG future, where clean, long-duration power generation is accessible globally.
