Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, presided over the official opening ceremony of the Port of Duqm on Friday.
King Phillippe Leopold Louis Marie and Queen Mathilde Marie Christine Ghislaine d’Udekem d’Acoz attended the ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Dr. Dheeb noted that through the management of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD), OPAZ seeks to achieve the four objectives of the Oman Vision 2040, which include diversifying sources of income, attracting and localizing foreign and local investments, and generating jobs and fulfilling the goals of the zone by providing the necessary infrastructure.
“In 2010, the Antwerp Port Authority established the sister company Port of Antwerp International, or as we call it PAI, to develop and roll out the international strategy of the Port of Antwerp,” Minister Annick said.
“The very first international project of PAI was the shareholding participation in the Port of Duqm Company together with our Belgian partner which is now DEME Concessions.
Chairperson of the board of directors of Antwerp Port Authority Annick De Ridder says that the celebration is a reflection of a 12-year collaboration.
She spoke during her speech about the Green hydrogen and the Hyport Duqm project, which is a large-scale green hydrogen project between OQ and DEME Concessions.
