MADRID (Reuters) -The cost of producing green hydrogen with renewable energy is set to fall and the capacity to produce it in Europe and nearby countries will likely surpass current targets by 2030, European Union officials said on Monday.
Centrica has today (Monday 29th November) announced it is taking a minority stake in HiiROC, the hydrogen production technology company helping to combat climate change with affordable hydrogen produced at scale but without CO2 emissions.
After a period of 12 months of joint Research and Development program focused on the development of economically viable offshore hydrogen production solutions, DORIS, integrated engineering and project management company leader in offshore developments, and Lhyfe, pioneer global player and pure player in the production of renewable green hydrogen, have decided to formalize their initial partnership in order to accelerate their work on offshore hydrogen production in order to launch the first floating wind turbine to integrate a hydrogen production system , and identify opportunities on a larger scale.
MADRID, (Reuters) – The European Union and collaborating countries are likely to surpass a current target to install a combined 80 gigawatts (GW) of renewable hydrogen electrolysers by 2030, EU climate policy chief Frans Timmermans said on Monday.
The Czech locomotive manufacturer CZ LOKO has started the development of a hydrogen-powered locomotive. For the time being, the project is in the feasibility study phase, which will determine whether a prototype will be built. This was stated by Jan Kutálek, Sales Director of CZ LOKO at Žesnad technical seminar in Olomouc on November 22, which was attended by leading representatives of the railway industry and carriers. The locomotive with a maximum output of up to 800 kW should use hydrogen cells for charging the traction batteries.
The global ambition to help combat climate change with affordable hydrogen produced at scale but without CO2 emissions has taken a significant step forward as HiiROC today completes a c. £26 million fund raise with new investors including Melrose Industries, HydrogenOne, Centrica, Hyundai and Kia, who join existing strategic investors Wintershall Dea and VNG.

Alstom has signed a collaboration agreement[1] with Liebherr – Aerospace & Transportation SAS, a France-based company specialising in the manufacture of compressors for fuel cells. This agreement is aimed at optimising hydrogen systems, including improving the reliability and durability of fuel cells, increasing their power density and reducing the cost of such solutions.
Together with Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH, a German expert for emission-free hydrogen fuel cells, the Austrian company xelectrix Power GmbH developed a revolutionary complete system that combines fuel cell and battery storage technologies. The system delivers 100 % GREEN energy with 0 % CO2 emissions.
The second edition of the European Hydrogen Week kicked off today in Brussels, with an opening address from the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.  Almost 2000 registered participants are joining online speakers from across Europe and beyond to discuss how to move forward in the transition to a clean hydrogen economy in the EU and beyond.
