  • Championed by Welsh MPs and decision-makers, Protium’s move aims to scale up its Welsh projects to over £100 million by 2024

Protium Green Solutions (Protium), the leading UK-based green hydrogen energy services company, today announces the expansion of its national footprint with the opening of Protium Wales, led by Protium’s Director of Innovation and Policy, Dr. Jenifer Baxter.

Following a year of growth and its recent expansion into Scotland, Protium’s emergence into Wales comes as a natural step forward for the green hydrogen leaders, with its mission to develop sustainable energy projects for businesses decarbonising at the forefront of its decision-making.

Couple this growth with increased green hydrogen support from the Welsh Government, who recently pledged the need to urgently decarbonise emissions-heavy industries, the region has been identified as a viable strategic opportunity for the London-headquartered brand.

The team and their expanding project pipeline (which is currently totaling more than £1 billion CAPEX) will be able to serve existing Welsh-based clients out of its Caerphilly office, with plans to expand the headcount from its existing six-strong team to create more jobs and economic opportunities across the region, with further plans to scale up Welsh projects to more than £100 million by [year].

Dr Jenifer Baxter, Head of Protium Wales and Director of Innovation and Policy, will spearhead the team, bringing with her notable industry expertise as a member of the board for Industry Wales and member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (where she previously held the position of Chief Engineer).

Speaking of the opening of Protium Wales, Dr. Jenifer Baxter said: “I am delighted to be supporting Protium’s strategic growth plans by spearheading the team in Wales, an evolution that marks a notable moment for our growth. Wales is an incredibly exciting, important region with a positive appetite for innovative solutions like green hydrogen, and I look forward to working with the local community and wider team to deliver meaningful change.”

Chris Jackson, CEO of Protium, said: “As Protium’s Founder I am extremely excited by our move into Wales, a critical region to the energy transition. I look forward to working with other ambitious businesses and leaders to drive policy and practice toward a greener future for the Welsh community.”

Supported by Vaughan Gething, Minister for Economy for Wales, Protium will be hosting an invitation-only seminar on Tuesday 13 July joined by Gething and spokespeople from Industry Wales, Ynni Glan, Riversimple, Swansea University, AB InBev, Logan Air, Wales & West Utilities, TP Group and more.
