Pure Hydrogen has received an executed term sheet from waste management company Solo Resource Recovery for the supply of a hydrogen fuel cell (‘HFC’) powered waste collection vehicle, to be trialled within its business operations for a period of six-months.
- Pure Hydrogen will deliver maintenance services and supply hydrogen fuel during the trial period
- Upon expiry of the six-month trial commencing in 2024, Solo has the option to extend its lease on the trial vehicle and accept additional HFCEV waste collection trucks
- Depending on the outcome of the trial, further waste collection vehicles may be progressively deployed
- across Solo’s extensive New South Wales, Victorian, South Australian and Western Australian operations
- Pure Hydrogen have now signed Term Sheets with multiple parties where the total quantity of potential HFC trucks to be supplied is greater than 100 assuming successful
Sydney– Australian clean energy company Pure Hydrogen Corporation Limited (ASX: PH2 or ‘Pure Hydrogen’) is pleased to announce it has executed a term sheet (‘the agreement’) for the provision of a Hydrogen Fuel Cell (‘HFC’) waste collection truck for Australian waste management company Solo Resource Recovery (‘Solo’) to service their Municipal contracts including Tweed Shire Council in northern New South Wales. The agreement with Solo includes further supply of HFC waste collection trucks, subject to conditions precedent including a successful six-month trial outcome.
Solo is a privately-owned leading Australian waste management company providing kerbside waste collections for councils across most regions in Australia, servicing over 1.2 million bins per week. Pure Hydrogen’s HFCEV waste collection truck will be deployed for an initial period of six months to Solo’s municipal operations facilitating waste collections from households in 2024.
Pure Hydrogen is in the final stages of delivering Australia’s first hydrogen fuel cell refuse collection vehicle which is expected to be trialled in late 2023 (refer ASX Announcement 26 May 2022). Pure Hydrogen has exclusive distribution rights for the truck design in Australia.
The truck to be supplied for the Solo trial is a side-loading, general household waste collection vehicle. The trial will allow Solo to determine the feasibility of the hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle under different operating conditions, and it is an opportunity for participating Councils to determine how they can transition to hydrogen fuelled electric waste collection vehicles, and the infrastructure to support the technology.
Pure Hydrogen’s HFC waste collection truck is expected to have a range of about 300 kilometres before needing to re- fuel. Initially, the re-fuelling for the trial will be conducted at Solo’s Chinderah depot with 99.97% purity hydrogen supplied by Pure Hydrogen. Its driving range will depend on the travel route, geography and number of services. The truck emits zero CO2 gas emissions from the tailpipe under operating conditions, resulting in better air quality for the communities for which it is to be trialled. Additionally, the vehicle is quiet, reducing noise by over 70%.
Commercial terms
The Pure Hydrogen HFCEV garbage truck will be supplied to Solo for an initial period of six months, with the option to extend up to 7 years. Solo will pay a rental cost of $82,500 including GST together with a deposit and hydrogen usage and maintenance costs during the six month trial period. Upon a successful outcome of the trial period, the term sheet provides Solo with an option to trial and accept additional Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Trucks. Solo currently operates up to 40 waste collection vehicles per location across its New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australian network. Pure Hydrogen will supply the waste collection vehicle with Hydrogen fuel and vehicle maintenance services for the duration of the six-month trial. Pure Hydrogen also has the last right of refusal for hydrogen supply to Solo.
