Shanghai Hydrogen and Sydrogen Forge Strategic Partnership for Global Fuel Cell Tech

Shanghai Hydrogen Propulsion Technology and Sydrogen Energy enter into a strategic partnership for the global market and new applications development of fuel cell technology.

Shanghai Hydrogen Propulsion Technology Co., Ltd (“SHPT”) and Sydrogen Energy Pte. Ltd. (“Sydrogen”) (hereinafter, the “Parties”) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement at the premises of SHPT.

Dr Shi Xu, Chairman of Nanofilm Technologies International Limited(“Nanofilm”) and Sydrogen, and Mr Lu Bingbing, General Manager of SHPT, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties, witnessed by Mr Gary Ho, CEO of Nanofilm and Mr Lu Zuming, General Manager of Sydrogen in China.

According to the agreement, both parties will capitalize on their respective technical advantages, marketing channels and after-sales service resources to further increase market penetration into Southeast Asia, Europe, and America, and jointly develop the sales and services of fuel cell stacks, systems and components, providing in-depth services and competitive solutions to meet the diverse needs of customers’ in different fields such as on-road automotive and non-automotive applications.

Nanofilm is a deep-tech company and the leading provider of nanotechnology solutions in Asia. The company specializes in advanced materials, nanoproducts commercialization of key market applications and products in various markets and industries. Located in Singapore, its global headquarters is the strategic base and major R&D center of core technologies.

Sydrogen is a joint venture between Nanofilm and Temasek Holdings. With its unique coating technology, Sydrogen develops and produces metallic bipolar plates with excellent ion-leaching prevention properties, which enables the fuel cell to withstand demanding operating conditions, and helps to maximise the lifespan and performance of the fuel cell system.

This product has passed the technical test and is certified by SHPT. Sydrogen will act as a strategic partner to supply components to support SHPT in delivering high-quality fuel cell performance stacks products. Sydrogen has a team of experienced international engineering and technical experts, with system integration and application capabilities of hydrogen energy products, and that conduct R&D and the system application of core components.

At the agreement signing ceremony, Dr Shi Xu said that the strategic partnership between Sydrogen and SPHT is an important milestone. Based on the excellent performance of SHPT’s high-tech fuel cell products and Sydrogen’s international reach, both parties will be able to penetrate new markets, develop new product applications and promote the use of hydrogen technology in the world for mutual benefit.

Mr Lu Zuming added that Sydrogen and SHPT have previously partnered in the fixed power generation project in Singapore. Sydrogen looks forward to support SHPT in further developing fuel cell systems with excellent quality, performance and cost efficiency.

Both parties will also focus on other applications such as fuel cell vehicles, off-grid stationary power generation, ship engine systems, hydrogen energy storage systems, and hydrogen energy power generation systems, as well as market development in Southeast Asia and Europe.

As a leading high-tech enterprise in the fuel cells industry in China, SHPT has established integrated and independent R&D and mass production capabilities for membrane electrodes, fuel cell stacks, fuel cell systems, and vehicle power system integration and adaptation.

These products are widely used in passenger cars, urban buses, group buses, light trucks, medium and heavy trucks, etc. Commercialization and product roll-out is being facilitated in 21 cities and 15 provinces in China, including Shanghai, Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Inner Mongolia, and Shaanxi. Furthermore, SHPT is also exploring diversified applications such as light vehicles, construction machinery, forklifts, airport luggage trailers, and distributed power generation.

Mr Lu Bingbing expressed his full confidence in this strategic partnership. He said that signing agreement with Sydrogen is a great opportunity for SHPT to fully capitalize its proven product strength, business model innovation and application experience.

Both parties will further enhance its long-term partnership, worldwide resource allocation, and improve global key account customer relationships. Besides, both parties jointly can provide clean, performance, cost efficiency and multi-dimensional comprehensive solutions to customers, so as to achieve breakthroughs in the global business of both parties.
