  • The Government of the Balearic Islands agrees with the Ministry of Industry, ACCIONA and several companies to promote the Lloseta area, which will receive an investment of € 41M and will allow the creation of 90 jobs
  • Acciona to start up a renewable hydrogen plant that will be powered by solar energy

The President of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol; the Minister of Industry, Reyes Maroto; the mayor of Lloseta, Xema Muñoz; the CEO of ACCIONA Energy, Rafael Mateo; the general director of ACCIONA Industrial, Ramón Jiménez; as well as other directors of companies, today signed an agreement for the implementation of eight industrial projects in the Mallorcan town, which will total a total investment of € 41M and will involve the creation of 90 direct and indirect jobs.

The objective of the firm is to materialize the agreement of intentions reached by the Government with the Ministry of Industry, in December of last year, to find alternatives for re-industrialization in the Lloseta area.

In the case of ACCIONA, the company plans to participate in two of the projects to promote the decarbonisation of the Balearic economy, through the construction of a renewable hydrogen generation plant that, in turn, will be exclusively powered by photovoltaic energy .

The two initiatives, which will also have the participation of Enagás, have already received the support of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE) and the collaboration of the Transport Consortium of Mallorca and the Municipal Transport Company of Palma.

The Balearic president has said that these projects will “reindustrialize the area” and has insisted that these are “very important economic, environmental and labor.”
