Gondan Shipyard has launched another commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) for Norwegian shipowner Edda Wind at its shipyard in Figueras, Spain.

This vessel, which was designed by Salt Ship Design, is being funded by Enova SF, a Norwegian government organization that promotes energy efficiency, and is ready for the installation of zero-emission hydrogen technology.

The 88.3-meter CSOV has a capacity of 120 people (93 technicians and 27 crew members) and features a 3D motion-compensated gangway, a 3D offshore crane, and an integrated elevator with a 26-person capacity. It is the third in a series of six vessels that will be used to transport technical staff for the maintenance and installation of offshore wind turbines.

The first CSOV, the Edda Breeze, was chartered by Ocean Breeze to provide services for the BARD Offshore 1 wind farm in Germany and was launched in May of last year.

Another CSOV is being launched by Gondan Shipyard for use in the North Sea to support the commissioning and construction of the first two phases of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm.
