The City of Frankfurt Wants to Purchase 33 hydrogen Fuel Cell Powered Buses

According to Thomas Erhart, the city of Frankfurt wants to purchase 33 hydrogen fuel cell powered buses and 21 pure electric buses.

Klaus Oesterling(SPD), head of Frankfurt’s department for transport & traffic announced that a request has been made through a subsidy application for the purchase of these articulated electric buses was sent a few days ago to the federal government.

A second funding application for the purchase of solo electric buses should also be sent to the state of Hesse by the end of next week. If approved, the city will commence the building of the EV charging infrastructure.

They also announced that a third application for hydrogen busses should be ready by the end of May.

As for now, three hydrogen buses, which were ordered in an initiative with Wiesbaden and Mainz, are expected to be delivered in September.
