The new publicly accessible hydrogen filling station is located on the Aanwas, at exit 20 of the A7 in Roosendaal. It supplies hydrogen (H2) with a pressure of 700 bar, suitable for passenger cars and other light vehicles, and 350 bar, mainly used for heavy vehicles such as buses and trucks. The station also has four 300 kW charging points for fast charging of electric trucks and passenger cars.

The hydrogen filling station in Roosendaal is the result of a collaboration between TotalEnergies in the Netherlands and H2point and is part of the heavy duty network of hydrogen filling stations that TotalEnergies is currently developing in Europe. It is also planned that this station will become part of the announced joint venture with Air Liquide, which aims to build more than 100 hydrogen stations for heavy vehicles on major European roads – mainly in France, Benelux – in the coming years and Germany.

The new hydrogen filling station has been made possible by financial support from the Dutch government and the European Union. A financial incentive from the DKTI scheme was used, with which the Dutch government supports projects in sustainable mobility, including the construction of hydrogen filling stations. In addition, European funding has been obtained from BENEFIC, a cross-border and innovative project for the development of charging and refueling infrastructure for alternative fuels for transport.

Robert Joore , Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Netherlands: “The opening of the hydrogen filling station in Roosendaal in collaboration with H2point fits in with TotalEnergies’ ambition to operate completely CO2 neutral by 2050, together with society. It is TotalEnergies’ fifth H2 station in the Netherlands, next to Arnhem, Delfzijl (buses), Breda and Veldhoven.”

Antoine Tournand , Vice President Hydrogen of TotalEnergies Marketing & Services: “For international long-distance transport and heavy-duty applications, hydrogen has the greatest competitive advantage due to its intensive use. It allows fast refueling, comparable to diesel, and it gives a long autonomy, up to 1,000 km. The new TotalEnergies H2 filling station in Roosendaal is the first to be specially designed and built to meet the latest developments and customer expectations in H2 technology.Today’s opening is an important step towards our goal of contributing to a more sustainable and carbon-free future for the transport sector.”

Paul Smits , Director of H2point: “With the realization of this hydrogen filling station in Roosendaal, West Brabant, the ‘logistics hotspot of the Netherlands’, is ready for the future. The station contributes to the transition to sustainable hydrogen mobility and H2point’s aim for a nationwide network of hydrogen stations. Thanks to our subsidy partners RVO for the financial support from the DKTI transport scheme and that from the European Union from BENEFIC and the Connecting Europe Facility program (CEF).”
