TUBITAK MAM and the National Boron Research Institute (BOREN) have developed and premiered a new domestic car powered by hydrogen fuel.

The developed vehicle has a hybrid engine, it can travel 300 kilometers with electricity and its range is increased by 150 kilometers with hydrogen fuel.

It uses boron as hydrogen storage in the vehicle. The vehicle, which operates very quietly, has zero-emission and accelerates to 100 kilometers in a very short time.

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Dönmez commented, “The car itself is a hybrid. When we put hydrogen-fueled batteries in normal electric vehicles range will be extended. Currently, the vehicle for trial, 300 kilometers range of electricity. ”

Turkey’s vision for the future in energy has stated that they want to build together with all stakeholders. Pointing out that they aim to obtain hydrogen on 4 main benefits as the Ministry, our Minister has listed them as “adding more renewable energy to the system, making the heat sector carbon-free, emitting hydrogen from domestic coal, increasing the use of boron as hydrogen storage and conservative”.
