Fuel Cells Works, Van Kessel Places Order for 5 Hydrogen Trailers for Supplying Filling Stations

The Van Kessel Group from Milheeze has ordered 5 trailers for the transport of hydrogen. The trailers are being built by Hexagon Purus, a Norwegian company specializing in hydrogen systems. Van Kessel will use the trailers to supply its Greenpoint hydrogen filling stations.

The trailers are equipped with 20ft containers with special Type 4 lightweight composite cylinders in which hydrogen is stored under a pressure of 300 bar. Each trailer can transport 400 kg of hydrogen. The trailers are supplied by Wystrach GmbH, a subsidiary of Hexagon Purus, which specializes in hydrogen storage and distribution systems. Deliveries are planned for the period Q3 2022 to Q1 2023.

Network of hydrogen filling stations

Van Kessel will use the trailers to supply hydrogen to filling stations. Van Kessel operates the Greenpoint Hysolar hydrogen filling station in Nieuwegein. Projects for new hydrogen stations in, among others, Oude-Tonge, Ede and Dordrecht are at an advanced stage.

Joan van Kessel, Managing Director of Van Kessel: “ Our goal is to become a leading player in the Dutch hydrogen market with a strategic network of hydrogen filling stations and production of green hydrogen. The investment in these hydrogen trailers is an important step towards achieving that goal. With these trailers we can supply locations where local production of green hydrogen is not (yet) possible.”

The Van Kessel Group from Milheeze (gemert-Bakel gem) is active in the sale and distribution of (sustainable) fuels and lubricants, as well as the operator of 36 filling stations in the south of the Netherlands. This Brabant family business is currently working hard on initiatives for sustainable fuels and energy. For example, under the name Greenpoint, a network of 12 multi-energy stations with sustainable fuels is operated, charging plazas are installed at companies and Nieuwegein’s first hydrogen filling station was put into use in July 2021.
