Environmentally friendly drive technologies and their further development have been the focus of Wiener Linien’s acquisition of new vehicles for many years.
At the beginning of September 2019, it started the conversion of its polluting buses to pure electric ones. Wiener Linien’s strategy will also include the procurement testing of hydrogen fuel cell powered buses.
Also included in the strategy is the construction of a hydrogen filling station in the north of Vienna, in the Leopoldau garage.
The first bus and testing of both the station and bus will start in and around May 2020.
