World Hydrogen Awards 2024 – Winners Announced

The World Hydrogen 2024 Awards sponsored by BOSS Energy Consulting, took place on the evening of 12th May 2024 at a ceremony held in the Rotterdam Ahoy during the World Hydrogen 2024 Summit & Exhibition, with 6 winners recognised in different categories for their fantastic contribution to the hydrogen industry.

The Green Hydrogen Project Award went to Shell, Netherlands for their Hydrogen Holland I Project for Shell’s energy competence and thyssenkrupp nucera’s electrolysis know-how and engineering excellence – which are vital for transforming and decarbonizing existing value chains long-term while maintaining Europe’s competitiveness in the energy transition.

The Hydrogen Industrial Application Award was awarded to Air Liquide & Siemens Energy (Germany) for their Gigawatt Electrolyser Factory. The annual production capacity of one gigawatt is set to increase to at least three gigawatts by 2025, with potential for more!

The Future Hydrogen Leader Award was awarded to Filipe de Vasconcelos Fernandes (PhD), Founder, H2Tax and Executive Director of Renewable Hydrogen Course, AP2H2. He has had an impressive track-record at the Academy level (he teaches in the main advanced courses in Portugal on Hydrogen Economy, very focused on the topics of Regulation, Taxation and Design of Financing Mechanisms for Hydrogen Economy) and is already a member of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Association for Promotion of Hydrogen (AP2H2).

The Hydrogen Transport Award went to Fortescue (Australia) for The Green Pioneer, the experience and knowledge from the Green Pioneer and other world’s first projects positions Fortescue in a unique position to lead this charge and catalyse the green movement to make a carbon free world a reality.

The Port of the Future Award went to the Port of Corpus Christi, a landlord port authority and the steward of the most improved, most efficient ship channel on the U.S.Gulf Coast, is the prime applicant for the HCH2 and common denominator to each of the roughly two dozen discrete clean hydrogen production projects.

The Hydrogen Person of the Year Award was awarded to Eng. Nawal Alhanaee, Director of Future Energy Department, Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure UAE. Eng. Nawal was titled a pivotal figure in shaping the national hydrogen strategy 2050 in the UAE, her leadership has paved the way for significant strides in hydrogen deployment globally.
