  • Bramble Energy and Optimal Risk Group have signed an MoU to deliver an integrated surveillance system for specialist off-grid monitoring requirements.
  • Bramble Energy have launched our first solutions that integrate our SD air-cooled fuel cells for stable off-grid power supply.
  • Bramble Energy’s PCBFC™ technology reduces the cost of fuel cells and allows us to deploy a range of cost effective low-power systems.

Bramble Energy and Optimal Risk Group have jointly agreed to collaborate in the deployment of hydrogen fuel cells for specialist surveillance applications.

The first phase of our engagement has commenced with the successful deployment of systems in live monitoring, which has seen Bramble’s PCBFC™ technology being integrated with the surveillance and monitoring technologies from Optimal Risk to deliver a long-duration covert monitoring system for off-grid applications.

Hydrogen fuel cells are electrochemical devices that convert chemical energy from a fuel into electricity with oxygen taken from the air, creating no point of use particulates and completely eliminating harmful emissions. They are silent in operation with no moving parts and produce only water and heat as by-products.

Whilst conventional fuel cell stacks rely on stamped plates to hold the various layers, Bramble Energy’s approach leverages PCB manufacturing techniques, which can be produced at low cost, in virtually any form-factor using flexible production methods.

“Hydrogen fuel cells offer a silent and viable alternative to the batteries that we were using. We’re able to deliver a surveillance installation that has long-endurance with limited-service time, whilst importantly helping to meet net zero CO2 emission targets,” said Dean Wormleighton, Technical Services Director for Optimal Risk Group.

“Being able to quickly install a system is vital in surveillance applications and being able to extend the life of an installation with a quick switch of a hydrogen cylinder is a key feature in our system being able to offer the long-term monitoring we need, while keeping it covert.”

“Through our first installations, our work with Bramble Energy has demonstrated that you can apply the latest technology in an installation while improving the level of service we offer to our clients,” continued Dean. “We’re delighted that the technology has been effective, as demonstrated in the successful capture of a number of criminal and anti-social acts.”

“Optimal Risk Group’s deep understanding of the security sector has been vital in us being able to deploy our PCBFC™ technology” said Peter Sayce, Chief Products Officer at Bramble Energy. “Their unique understanding of client needs, combined with their knowledge of surveillance systems, and importantly, how to deploy solutions, make them the ideal partner for Bramble Energy to accelerate the deployment of our new low-powered fuel cells into the security sector.”

Wormleighton agreed: “Our collaboration to date just shows the potential of this technology. We look forward to working with Bramble Energy to further deploy our surveillance systems and to explore where else we can take fuel cell generators.”
