On June 16, 2020, E-xpeditie.nl will organize the first H2 Test Drive for entrepreneurs together with Automotive Campus Helmond, Oostendorp Auto and Ebby Road.
Interested people can bombard hydrogen car expert Arjan de Putter with questions for an hour. The test drive starts with a refueling instruction at the hydrogen refueling station of WaterstofNet. Then they make a test drive on a set route. The test drives are corona proof and by appointment only.
For those interested, two cars are ready: a Toyota Mirai and a Hyundai Nexo. They are completely different cars with a completely different experience. Both cars have in common that they drive very quietly, have a large range (500 and 600 kilometers respectively) and that they are filled up in three minutes.
NOT SELLING CARS, BUT INFORMATION
With this initiative, E-xpeditie.nl wants to contribute to providing good practical information about driving on hydrogen. “There is a lot of talk about driving on hydrogen, but few people have real experience,” says De Putter, “Driving on hydrogen is simply interesting for the real kilometer eater with a busy agenda. And the number of filling stations? More and more petrol stations are being added in the Netherlands, but I recommend that you only order a car if you have a petrol station in your area. You just need it. ”
The test drive day is deliberately not an attempt to sell cars. De Putter: “Of course it is nice if people really want to make the switch to driving on hydrogen, but we refer them to the providers. This day is really meant to inform people and let them experience driving on hydrogen. ”
WHY ENTREPRENEURS?
The low addition (8% for those who order a new one) over the full catalog value makes them fiscally attractive. Hydrogen cars are simply expensive, even when used young. But driving on hydrogen also allows you to distinguish yourself in business. “The decision to opt for hydrogen driving is a complex one,” says De Putter. “Innovations require you to be the first to involve entrepreneurs: they are used to making difficult assessments and are able to make decisions.”
CORONA PROOF
Corona has a major impact on the world: the air has never been as clean as it is now. This has also demonstrated the importance of (hydrogen) electric driving: if we want to keep that air that way, we will have to switch to cars that are battery or hydrogen electric.
The test drive day is organized coronaproof: the test rides are by appointment only and a maximum of one hour is available for everyone. The car is cleaned at every change. And the conversation naturally takes place a meter and a half away.
