Together with the German Energy Agency (dena), the World Energy Council and with the support of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, the Start Up Energy Transition (SET) initiative draws up an annual list of the 100 most forward-looking and innovative start-ups worldwide following a multi-stage selection process.

The prestigious ranking includes above all those companies whose technologies, solutions and ideas make an active contribution in the areas of energy system transformation and climate protection or – according to the SET initiative – ‘whose technologies can revolutionize the world’.

A total of almost 570 start-ups from 90 countries competed for this year’s SET Award. KEYOU is one of 100 companies that made it onto the list at the end of the competition and is thus one of the “Top 100 energy start-ups of the year 2020”. “We are naturally very excited to be included in this year’s SET100 list with KEYOU. On the one hand, because well-known organisations and experts are behind it, and on the other hand, because the competition has spread to almost 90 countries worldwide,” say founders Tom Korn, Alvaro Sousa and Ivo Pimentel.

A minor drawback: Unfortunately, the annual festival, which brings together potential investors, political decision-makers and stakeholders from associations and institutions to celebrate the 100 companies, will be cancelled this year due to COVID-19.
