  • On 1 June 2021, Thomas Niederer will become the new Managing Director of Hydrospider, the leading Swiss producer of green hydrogen. The 56-year-old is tasked with helping the young company to master the next steps in its ambitious plans for growth.
  • Thomas Niederer succeeds Thomas Fürst, who successfully positioned and established Hydrospider over the past two years. He will now return to focussing on the management of Alpiq Hydro Aare.
  • Hydrospider, a joint venture between H2 Energy, Alpiq and Linde GmbH/PanGas, is currently establishing a unique business model to promote hydrogen mobility together with Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility and the H2 Mobility Switzerland Association.

Zurich – Hydrospider AG’s Board of Directors has appointed Thomas Niederer as the new Managing Director. The 56-year-old business economist is a tried-and-tested leader with extensive experience at various levels in international transport and logistics companies. Since late 2015 he has been an independent Account Manager for various companies and clients in the food retail, logistics and transport sectors. “Green hydrogen for emission-free mobility has enormous potential, especially in heavy goods transport,” says Thomas Niederer. “I look forward to helping shape this still very young market as Managing Director of Hydrospider, and to making a decisive contribution to strengthening and further expanding the hydrogen ecosystem for emission-free mobility.”

His main focus will be on further developing the efficient, reliable distribution of green hydrogen and further expanding its production – both with partners and with our own production facilities.

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Rolf Huber: “Thomas Niederer has the experience and the ideal skills to move Hydrospider forward, to continue implementing our growth strategy and to lead the company into a successful future. I look forward to continuing on this ambitious path with him and setting further milestones for more sustainable, climate-friendly mobility in Switzerland.”

Thanks to Thomas Fürst

Thomas Niederer will take over from Thomas Fürst on 1 June 2021. His predecessor managed Hydrospider through the first two years of the company’s history, to great success. Chairman of the Board of Directors, Rolf Huber: “On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I would like to thank Thomas Fürst for his additional operational commitment to the establishment and further development of Hydrospider. Switzerland’s largest electrolysis plant for the production of green, climate-friendly hydrogen was put into operation in Niedergösgen under his leadership. He succeeded in establishing Hydrospider as one of the leading companies in the promising Swiss hydrogen market for emission-free mobility.” In future, Thomas Fürst will again concentrate on his activities as Managing Director of Alpiq Hydro Aare AG, which operates the hydropower plants in Gösgen, Ruppoldingen and Flumenthal.
